Here you can see the "research" regarding my ancestors, i.e. the roots of the Osterbuhr family.
The roots of the Osterbuhr family are in the little village Strackholt (Großefehn county) in East Friesian, Northern Germany.
Today, most of the German Osterbuhr families still live in Strackholt and surroundings, too. However, in second half of the 19th century a number of Osterbuhr people chose (as many other Germans at that time too) to find their luck in the new world and emigrated to America. Today you can find in the American phone books more Osterbuhr entries (approx. 100) than in the German ones (approx. 30).
In the data stock presented here (approx. 900 persons) [441 kB] all information known to me (up to end of May 2002) regarding the families Osterbuhr and Osterbur and her branches is included.
The data of the branch Heeren/Coordes (my mothers mother) are based on the researches of one of my mothers cousins, Heinrich Coordes from Esens/East Friesian.
The data of the branch Janssen/Folkers (my fathers grandmother) was collected by my grand-cousin Hans-Herrmann Janssen..
Those persons, who are listed in the two "orphans" tables (one for Osterbuhr and one for Osterbur) I have discovered by name living in the U.S. But, for lack of further information, I cannot assign any relationships between them. It is definitely possible that some names are duplicate. I am extremely grateful for further help on this topic.
Not all information, which is in my database about single persons, can be seen here. Data, like addresses etc. are removed consciously. Also, for all persons which are still living, known birthdays are suppressed and the first names are abbreviated by initials .
The background picture of this page is a photo of my grandfather, the shipbuilder Karl Frerichs Osterbuhr (1880-1940).
